Post Insulators
Porcelain post insulators are built for substation and switchgear applications up to 245 kV, fully compliant with IEC 60168 / ANSI C29 standards. Constructed with high-strength porcelain and galvanized metal fittings, they offer high cantilever, torsional, and compression strength, along with a hydrophobic glaze that ensures reliable operation even in polluted or high-altitude environments.
Applications: Widely used in substations (AIS & GIS), as busbar supports, in disconnectors, circuit breakers, transformers, and switchgear installations.
Key Features: Exceptional mechanical strength, pollution resistance, maintenance-free operation, and long service life.
Pin Insulators
Porcelain pin-type insulators are designed for overhead distribution lines up to 33 kV and manufactured in accordance with IS 731 / IEC 60168 standards. Made from high-grade aluminous porcelain, they deliver high tensile strength, reliable creepage distance, and strong resistance to thermal shock. The galvanized forged steel pins provide secure mounting and long service life.
Applications: Used in distribution networks (11–33 kV), rural electrification, and industrial overhead systems.
Key Features: High mechanical strength, superior leakage resistance, and durability under severe weather conditions.
Shackle Insulators
Shackle insulators, also known as spool insulators, are primarily used in low-voltage distribution networks (up to 1 kV) for supporting and insulating conductors in short spans and at line terminations. Manufactured from high-strength porcelain with glazed surfaces, they provide excellent mechanical strength and resistance to weathering. These insulators are designed for both vertical and horizontal mounting using metal straps or bolts, ensuring versatile installation on distribution poles.
Applications: Commonly used in LT distribution lines, service connections, and pole-mounted equipment for power supply in rural and urban networks.
Key Features: Compact design, high mechanical performance, excellent resistance to electrical leakage, and long service life in outdoor environments.
Disc Insulators
Disc insulators, also called suspension insulators, are designed for high-voltage transmission and distribution lines ranging from 66 kV to 220+ kV. They are manufactured from porcelain or toughened glass and connected in series to form an insulator string that can withstand very high system voltages. Disc insulators exhibit excellent electro-mechanical strength (up to 160 kN) and superior arc and creepage performance, ensuring reliability under polluted and high-stress environments.
Applications: Widely used in transmission lines, substations, and EHV/UHV networks where long spans and high voltages demand superior insulation.
Key Features: High tensile and mechanical strength, resistance to flashover and pollution, modular string configuration for flexible voltage applications, and compliance with IEC 60383 standards.
Glass Insulators
Glass insulators are designed for overhead transmission and distribution lines up to ultra-high voltages, fully compliant with IEC / ANSI standards. Manufactured from toughened glass with hot-dip galvanized metal fittings, they provide excellent electrical insulation and mechanical strength. The smooth glass surface ensures superior hydrophobicity, minimizing surface leakage currents and flashover risks, even under polluted or coastal conditions.
Applications: Extensively used in transmission lines, distribution networks, substations, and HVDC systems as suspension or strain insulators.
Key Features: High dielectric strength, exceptional mechanical load resistance (40–300 kN), long creepage distance, self-fracture safety (metal parts remain intact), maintenance-free performance, and long operational life.
Egg/Stay Insulators
Egg insulators, also known as stay or guy strain insulators, are built for low to medium-voltage line applications, fully compliant with IEC 60383 / ANSI C29 standards. Constructed from high-strength porcelain or ceramic materials, they are designed to provide mechanical support and electrical isolation in guy/stay wires. Their compact shape offers excellent tensile and compressive strength while preventing current leakage to ground structures.
Applications: Commonly used in overhead distribution lines, railway electrification, and pole-stay arrangements for mechanical support and electrical isolation.
Key Features: High tensile strength, reliable insulation, resistance to weather and environmental stress, compact design, cost-effective, and long service life.
